“Starr Rochelle is an Astoria native. She received her Bachelors degree from CUNY Hunter College in 2015. Growing up active as a runner she suffered an injury in 2013 that required her to take time off from that, which is when she discovered yoga. She has been practicing ever since and instructing as a personal trainer since 2016. As a trainer she focuses on functional movement as well as strength and conditioning and frequently incorporates yoga into her training style. She believes yoga is more than just a practice to keep the body mobile and strong, it is also a way of life. She is registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT 200 and her background in yoga lies in vinyasa and restorative.”

Brooke : I believe that Yoga is the magic that adds beauty to our lives by connecting our minds, bodies and souls in a way that gives us freedom. I first made this connection with yoga in 2009 during college. I suffered from anxiety and found that yoga relieved me of those feelings. I moved to NYC in 2013 where I practiced on and off until 2017 when I had my quarter life crisis. During this time, yoga allowed me to find calm and stillness within myself even as everything else fell apart. This profound experience is something that I want to share with everyone I can! So I went to Vikasa yoga in Koh Samui, Thailand where I completed my 200 hour YTT in hatha yoga.

As a teacher my goal is to provide my students with classes that challenge them to deepen their practice while giving them the space to grow, learn and heal by turning inward. We will focus on alignment and posture variations that are challenging yet attainable for students of every level as well as incorporating breath work and meditation practices in some classes.

While I am a teacher I am also a student, constantly learning from my amazing teachers! Jodi Epstein who inspired me to get my certification and gave me my nickname (the unicorn yogi), Kosta Miachin who gave me immense personal growth through his training program at Vikasa Yoga and Alicia Casillas who taught me through love and compassion.

KENDALL: I fell in love with yoga ten years ago, and have never looked back! As an actor and a New Yorker, I find the practice of yoga vital to staying level headed. It brings an awareness to the connection between my breath and body that is invaluable, and a sense of calm to my otherwise chaotic day to day. I have been teaching all over New York City since 2012, and have fallen in love with providing my students with powerful vinyasa classes, intertwined with deep restorative postures. I use music and eucalyptus massages to help students forget about what they think they should look like, and focus, even for just an hour, on what they feel like. Yoga has the power to balance us physically and emotionally, all while dropping our egos, and taking up our god given space! It’s pure magic, and I want everyone to leave my classes feeling empowered, strong as hell, and blissed out!
